Another great Epicmeet comes to a close. So many awesome new friends made, memories shared, and cars cars cars!!! Some memorable moments included bridge jumping, swimming hole shenanigans, waterfall exploring, ‘potato farming a few houses down’, neighbors and their dynamite, almost having a wet t-shirt contest to win sponsor prizes, Steve and his problems 🙁 and of course, ca ca kawwww!!!
Props goes out to Ace (Steve B) with his 17 year old 1994 Protege that decided it was done trying while we were on our Friday Skyway run… He had some troubles with it last year on the Skyway but came back and went at it again… Even with all of the trouble/heartache, he still made the best of it and several EPIC attendees chipped in to help him with gas/food money to get home after he had to rent a uhaul truck/trailer for his long drive back to FL.
Outside of that, the meet went great. We avoided the rain just long enough for the car show to go pretty well and for Travis of Paragon Motorsports to give us a quick tutorial on how to install Mudflaps on a Mazda 3/Mazdaspeed 3. We handed out a ton of prizes from some awesome companies like CorkSport, James Barone Racing, Street Unit, Protege Garage, SharpHID, Redline Accessories,TurboWax, CP-E, and JDM Goodie! Shout out also to MazdaMovement for giving us some awesome coverage leading up and after the event! And to BDT Graphics for giving us a great deal on custom vinyl to hand out at the meet.
This wasn’t our biggest year, but it was one of our best in my opinion. The White Water Rafting and Zipline trips with over 20 of us all together was an absolute blast! Many members had never done either activity so it was a real blast getting to share with each other for our first times. The driving on Friday, invading Hardees, visiting and exploring Bald River Falls, and finding the “waterin’ hole” where we spent out evenings in 80 degree water jumping off the rocks was just perfect. Some members took EPIC to a new ‘height’ as they jumped off of one of the overpasses leading to the Tail of the Dragon. It was a quick 30 foot drop or so but a lot of fun. I wouldn’t suggest trying a front flip though… Just a reminder!
I’d like to personally thank everyone who came out and helped make this meet what it is. Special thanks goes to Scott L. for the cakes and helping at the Car show, Cezary and Justin H. for help with food/grilling/cleanup, Matt W. for hauling half of what needed to come to the meet from Michigan with me, Jon for helping bring stuff to the Car show and handing out/organizing people as they entered, Michelle B. for keeping the boys in line, and all the awesome cleanup she did the night before we had to leave. James F. and Brandon B. for their consistent dedication to this meet, keeping things interesting as always, and never leaving without making sure everything is taken care of… Jeff S. for helping take care of the trophies again, Lena for all her help with the Car show, Andrew N for some amazing Photos/Video and everyone else who pitched in!
