I don't believe any roads could come close to the Gap. There are nice scenic drives all over but haul ass roads through national forrests without house or driveways are very rare. The Blueridge Parkway and Skyline Drive are very nice but I would not attack those roads like I do at the Gap. Anywhere we go outside the Gap area will be viod of such fun driving.

Ima have to go with Scott on this one! And Deals Gap is a perfect location in a sense its in the middle of the east coast. If we would have it more north people from the south are gonna have to drive a lot more; and vise versa.

As long as we find a house with someting obscure to pull out of the closet, that weighs about 100 pounds, that we can move all over the house...

Im down.

that 100%  ...have been saying it for years, knew that's why people wouldn't enjoy gatlinburg as much.  Another problem, that takes away from the meet aspect, with a place like gatlinburg is that there's too much to do.  Everyone splits and does there own thing....just isn't the same!

Exactly! That's why the people who stayed in the house (or came over first thing in the morning and left late at night) had the most fun at the meet... Those that do their own thing don't get the full experience!!!

yep yep...nice thing about a place like robbinsville (middle of nowhere) there's nothing else nearby to do/see/eat/whatever.  gets everyone together!

I vote for Diamondback too!

That is, if we can get another mansion.. it's all about the mansion.
I agree with brandon about Gatlinburg, it was okay, not NEARLY as great as Robinsville as far as location went. I was there a day more than this trip and still experienced nothing like this past trip.

Although after talking to Tony, Robinsville this year was full of gearheads; last year was more of the party goers. I loved the crew this year 100% more, a bunch of great people came out and it was fun.

Drinking is great and all, but nothing brings all of us together like someone crashing into a wall or almost going off a cliff and yelling Oklahoma and having stories to tell at the end of the night. More so than "catching up" and just getting smashed for no real reason.

Although I will say the fireworks battle was way more fun last year hahaha

Those fireworks battles were great! I guessed I missed the previous years lol.. I don't know too much about the roads near Gatlinburg but Clingmans dome and some of the highest points of the Smoky Mountains are close by so there has to be some fun roads. Only thing I noticed is way more tourist traffic than in Robbinsville. I think another mansion type deal would be the best, I think people who didn't stay at the mansion missed out on quite a bit. It would be nice to not stay in a dry county too lol.

Welcome Tracy, it's a great group we have here and on our FB page. We may be putting together a Dragon Camp in April. We will be camping at Cheoah Point Campground right of Hwy 129 outside Robbisnville, NC. It's a great campground close to the Dragon.

Well, I personally, am going to vote for Marion, NC... if you like the Dragon, try the what the locals call "The Devil's Whip" but commonly called, "The Devil's Staircase" (due to it's 2500 ft elevation climb uphill from Marion, NC). Highway NC 80 from Marion, NC to Micaville, NC.  Tail of the Dragon has nothing on this road. true story.

Chris was afraid of me too for whatever reason lol

Don't mind me, I'm just the lowest mz3 with a roll bar, no interior, and the widest wheels at the show! Definitely a case of possible spinouts!

Yes, was caught on in car. Skyway curve, rear wheel catches wet grass and around she goes, almost caught a guard rail. Not me, ask Brandon.

State Road 15 - West Virgina (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=W+Virginia+4+N%2FSutton+Ln&daddr=US-219+S%2FW+Virginia+55+W&hl=en&ll=38.585747,-80.336838&spn=0.341363,0.837021&sll=38.166955,-79.519043&sspn=1.373366,3.348083&geocode=FdKHTgId_Cwx-w%3BFZYDSwId8sM6-w&vpsrc=6&mra=dme&mrsp=1&sz=9&t=m&z=11)
West Virginia claims to be "almost heaven," and a day of driving its less beaten paths will likely confirm that claim. Countless small state roads follow the ridges of the Appalachian Mountains, providing spectacular views and mile after mile of twisty roads.

State Road 15 is one such route. The 65-mile drive between Interstate 79 and US 219 will take the better part of of two hours, more if you stop to take in the beauty. The scenery is mostly forest, and what little traffic you encounter might be logging trucks. But don't worry about them holding you up; chances are they'll be outpacing you, even with a full load.

Devil’s Staircase (NC 80 from Micaville, NC to Lake Tahoma, NC) (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=micaville,+NC+to+lake+tahoma+nc&saddr=micaville,+NC&daddr=lake+tahoma+nc&hl=en&ll=35.809461,-82.110443&spn=0.297356,0.673599&sll=35.850657,-82.118683&sspn=0.148601,0.3368&geocode=FbnvIwIdxYYZ-yn_iBzyWKdQiDGIC8eRzJLtEw%3BFbAmIQId7Xgb-yk_0zdzM6xQiDGCuzhiTi8g4Q&z=11)
The sleeper of the bunch. We stumbled onto this one purely by accident, and what a happy accident it was. Comparable in grade to the Diamondback – that is to say, steep – but with prettier views and corners that flow a little better by virtue of not being quite as tight. If all we could ever drive for the rest of our days was this road, we’d be happy— a testament to just how good it is

Tennessee State Route 52 (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Red+Boiling+Springs+TN&daddr=Livingston,+TN+to:Jamestown+TN&hl=en&ll=36.508532,-85.404968&spn=0.741756,1.674042&sll=36.495838,-85.538864&sspn=0.351068,0.837021&geocode=FY10LQIdhAji-imLjxzW_fVmiDEh8dNtUhgz9A%3BFaQqKwId8hLq-ikdHs9MVQxniDEyf9KiG6WbSw%3BFTLXKwIdzArw-ilF7yuPCIxdiDHLwqlhf5Y2_w&vpsrc=6&mra=ls&t=m&z=10)
There are a lot of jokes about rural Tennessee, and some of them are actually true. If you want to investigate the sister-lovin', corncob-smokin' stereotype for yourself, drive into northern Tennessee and take State Road 52 from Interstate 65 to Interstate 75. Make sure to fuel up at the exit before heading east, lest you wish to pay for it later with yer purty mouth. Look up the term "backwoods" in the dictionary, and there will likely be a map with a star on this road.

If you're not too scared by the prospect of having a breakdown in the town of Red Boiling Springs, you'll find this drive one of the more exhilarating (and exhausting) in the eastern half of the country. Chances are you'll have the road to yourself, so be careful not to plant your car into one of the sheer rock faces that serve as guardrails along many of the off-camber, 20-mph turns. This is a road where you pack light, strap everything down, and focus on the task at hand. By the time you've made it to I-75 you'll be sweating and ready for a break. If you think you might be lost, just look for the barn with the Mail Pouch Tobacco ad painted on the side. Can't miss it.

Wolf Pen Gap/Blood Mountain - GA (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=GA-60+N&daddr=State+Route+180%2FWolf+Pen+Gap+Rd+to:GA-60+N&hl=en&ll=34.72807,-83.912888&spn=0.379229,0.837021&sll=34.686016,-83.912544&sspn=0.189711,0.41851&geocode=FbjuEAIdXIf--g%3BFdCTEgIdHpL_-g%3BFZ_gEAIddJz--g&oq=Turners+Cor&vpsrc=6&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=12&t=m&z=11)
Beside the Dragon, I doubt you can find a more challenging ride in the Appalachians.

That's a great setup, I have the same wheels but with Bridgestone RE-11's. The FD wheels are light and bolt right up. I only use my set when going to Deals Gap, and call them my Deals Gap setup.

The R-S3s are supposed to be even grippier than the RE-11s so when I get my springs and shocks, I'm interested to see what happens on the next Dragon Run.  Take your extra 120whp out of the equation (aka the tight stuff), I think you'll have some competition :)

You are right about being grippier but the RE-11's are a better all around tire with only a slight edge going to the R-S3 in grip. The Re-11's are very predictable as they break loose progressively giving you feedback before they break all the way.

You'll find I never shy away from a challenge. Accepted. You do have an awesome set up now so you should do well. I try to tell people all the time that rubber matters when at Deals Gap.

You saw how hard I ran with just V12s last time.  Im interested what will happen with RS3s and a new, bigger RSB for sure.  Hoping for Swift springs and Koni Yellows by then.

We have the same taste in tires, I have V12's on my stockers for DDing. V12's are a grippy tire too but the sidewall flexes some but with added pressure it is minimal.

I've noticed.  I have to run my V12s at 41psi cold for DD and track.  I wore the sidewalls out BAD in the first 2k miles from running hard to 32-34psi (cold)

Damn-it. I just spent 20 minutes composing an opinion only to have it fail to post and now it's gone. I'm happy with what ever ya'll come up with and would even be happy returning to the mansion.
